Blu-Ray players have started to gain popularity in the market over the past few months. According to In-Stat, a market research company this fame has led to the triple increase in shipment of Blu-Ray players to 14 million in the year 2009 excluding Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles.
A recent In-Stat report, on global Blu-Ray and DVD player/Recorder market predicts that by the year 2013, Blu-Ray shipments will be able to create an income four times more than the sale of DVD players.
Michelle Abraham, Analyst at In-Stat said that the reduction in price of Blu-Ray players and the introduction of enhanced features like IP/network connectivity helped them gain recognition.
In-Stat predicts that Blu-Ray players/recorders shipments will reach 80 million units by the year 2013. The cost of these Blu-Ray players will decrease by 70% by 2013. Blu-Ray Europe will be the biggest income markets for these Blu-Ray players, while Japan will rule the market for Blu-Ray recorders.
