Compatibility
Sony BDP-S500 is compatible to JPEG images, MPEG-2, MP3 audio and PS movie files, but not compressed video formats like DivX. This player supports AVCHD format files, i.e., recordings from camcorders in 8 or 12cm DVD discs. You can play your high definition personal files in HD quality.
Multi-Channel Linear PCM
The player features up to 8ch Linear PCM surround sound combining AV amplifier compatibility. Regular coaxial or optical jack does not support 8ch signals, while you need an HDMI compatible device and HDMI cord.
Dolby True HD and DTS-HD 7.1 Channel Surround Sound

Sony BDP-S500 is an efficient Blu-ray DVD player indeed! Unlike players with Profile 1.1, Sony BDP-S500 can’t play advanced interactive features since it is Profile 1.0 however, the feature list is appealing. If you are not particular about interactive additions, this player is perfect for you.
